This kidrobot ad has a very interesting way of attracting an audience to buy their product. The audience probably has no idea what the kidrobot brand consists of and is. The first thing that comes into view is the Barbie doll that is taped up and sitting on a brick outside on the cement. In front of the Barbie doll is a weird Cyclops doll that looks as though it is holding it hostage.
The Barbie is an American icon and has sold over millions of dolls all over the nation. It has been a cultural icon the moment it was created and every little girl all over the nation had to have one. The sales in the Barbie were so remarkable and became a very lucrative product. The use of the kidrobot toy to hold it hostage shows how kidrobot is showing that they have reinvented this idea.
Instead of purchasing a toy with different features and accessories one is able to create their own toy to have and mold. The kidrobot company creates a blank toy on where many people with or without art experience are free to express their ideas and designs. The writing also shows how the toy is personified to have taken it kidnapped and is now showing its new style.
This creative design allows for people of a range of audiences to take part and engage into this product. The audience sees their cultural icon tied up and are engaged to see what is happening with it. With the toy being the only thing in good focus, the eye is drawn towards it and slowly moves out. With that in hand the audience looks around to look for the author and it turns out to be kidrobot and that’s how the company is shown. This is a very successful ad and keeps the audience curious and ready to see more.

This album cover is very good way as a precursor for the music to come. There is a garden with the name of the album across the top. The garden seems very dream-like utopian society. The use of color is also another indication of a better place. The growth of plant life and birds also shows a sign of life.  These all are manipulated to represent the music that the audience will soon hear.
What makes this garden so idealistic and like a utopian society is the difference in the use of color. Since the person that is supposed to represent us has no color shows that we have yet to listen to the music. Since the back of the person is shown, the audience can see that they are the person since there is a lack of features that make people distinguishable. Since there is no color on the person, one can see that people are leaving their “bland” lives to enter into the music that Mae have created.
The person is also at the threshold of this utopian society. The enclosed area which is to signify the music is also a way that the colorless person can attain color and vivacity. This is a very effective way for this band to introduce this album because just as the character is on the threshold so are we. The cover is us looking into this deep forest filled with new sounds, colors, and other things that Mae is trying to show as a special thing. With that in mind the audience is able to see what the album is all about while Mae being able to show these feelings without the use of any words or text.

There are many things I believe that this photo is trying to achieve. The use of black and white makes this photo a lot more effective rather than if it was in color. The use of grayscale allows for subtle varieties of black which allow for the attention of the audience to be brought towards one spot of the picture through a concentration of black.
This being a portrait shows us that the person is trying to bring forth a couple things. The grown facial hair shows that this person hasn’t had the time or the funds to shave. It shows that the person is of the working class and is working hard if he didn’t have the time to shave. Him wearing a plain white t shirt also as the audience allowing to relate because he is like an average person. The second thing that jumps out at the audience is the dark question mark on his chin. This question mark usually means the feeling of confusion or curiosity.
With that fact that there is a question mark on the chin and the action of covering his eyes with his hand makes people think that he is confused of his future. Eyes being the tools for sight, when covered, show metaphorically that this person is blind due to some factor in his life. Like many Americans and people that he is trying to address are lost in their lives of schedules and daily problems.  Many people can see that he is trying to address the public with this picture to show how many people may feel in life. The only thing that is really in focus seems to be the front of the face and along with the dark spots in certain parts of the picture. With the use of simplicity, shading, and focus the artist is able to  convey his message effectively.

This political cartoon raises many eyebrows because of its use of history as well as interesting points. The cartoon shows the words of Roe V. Wade. This is the very case where abortion was deemed legal. The artist drew a memorial and wrote the Roe V. Wade on it to represent a memorial for all the babies that were killed during abortions. Right below the head of the memorial, there is a statement that says 50 million unborn known but to god. This stresses the point that the babies that were killed in the process of the abortion were thought of as people. The people take abortions lightly and fail to remember that they are humans as well.
The use of the dates shows that it will keep going but will end some day. If the policy were not going to be or thought to be changed the second date would not be in place with a changeable number. Another thing that is seen in this cartoon is the talking of a father and a son. Their statements are a bold statement to the way this cartoon should be perceived. The father lists the reasons for abortions that killed all the unborn children.
Another surprising aspect of this cartoon is the manipulation of the cemetery and the memorial. The memorial that marks the abortion is much bigger than others so therefore means more to the people.  This act of abortion was related to the acts of genocide as much seen in the holocaust. The artist is bold enough to go make a parallel from the acts of genocide with the act of abortion. The memorial being of its grand stature portrays it as a very important and still ongoing thing that will be looked upon in the future as immoral and wrong. That there would be a headstone for the children that were medically killed with the use of an abortion is all too hard to realize but this very edgy cartoon has done its job. This cartoon makes people think and make people rethink what they are doing today.

The album cover of mae’s singularity album is very intriguing. It is composed of just a white background with black ink. It is a picture of something that looks like an explosion or a bunch of lines. This cover captures the title of the album very well by its meaning. The meaning of singularity is uniqueness or distinctiveness. The drawing of the scribble or explosion makes it seem very unique and making an artistic statement. It makes the album feel very unique like it was done for each individual purchaser. The use of off the font that looks as though it were typed from a typewriter makes it also seem very unique. The imperfections create the personality on this album cover. The use of only black color also makes it very one dimensional and unique. The limited use of font color and space makes this design work very well for the album cover name. The dark center draws the audienece to it right away then to the band name and then to the album name. Since our eyes are attracted to bigger things, our eyes are naturally shifting from the biggest to the smallest forms of writing.
The purpose of an album cover would be to try and capture the music itself and I think this cover did very well. It is a good precursor for the music that the person will be hearing after looking over the front and back cover. Mae’s music is calming and seems very unique. This use of simplicity directly allows the audience to see it right away with the music. By only have 3 things to look at and move on to the serene music allows for a better music enjoying experience. Although the cover may just be a blob, it definitely created the great precursor for the music to come.

All around the world, there are many upcoming and new clothing brands. Among these many companies, there is a company called Kidrobot. This company has a very unique style and makes them stand apart from many other companies.
The company Kidrobot was founded by Paul Bundnitz in 2002 with a fresh new look at art.
Bundnitz attended Yale University where he studied photography, sculpture and art. In his early years he did work for to create things for computers, but created the Kidrobot brand after seeing a lot of vinyl characters that were popping out from Japan. Japan had created vinyl toys that were from cereal boxes and Paul was instantly inspired. In 2002, with the help of a friend, Paul Bundnitz created a vinyl toy called the DUNNY. The DUNNY  was inspired from a rabbit and it allows for expression of personal art. The DUNNY is a blank vinyl figure that one can order and customize to their liking. It allows for painting, drawing, spray painting, and whatever else the artist would like to bring to their figurine. The personality that each toy is able to take according to the creator makes this very appealing for artists everywhere. He has worked with many artists and designers all around the world to create a style that is like none other. He worked with brands such as marc Jacobs, Volkswagon, Lacoste, Nike, and many others.
Kidrobot’s inspiration for its designs come from graffiti, fashion, fines art, industrial design, illustration, music, and graphic design. All of these forms of design are utilitzed to create this style that we know today as Kidrobot. Another thing that is enticing for it’s customers and fans are the exclusiveness of it’s products.
Kidrobot stresses the exclusiveness of all of its products by only releasing a certain number of everything. This makes the demand for its products high while the supply is low. Some of their sweaters even have the number stitched into the clothing. For example if there were 800 hoodies made it would say which number it corresponded to in the creation of the 800. This also makes it seem very personal because you can say that you are the one of 800 people who are able to own the sweater. Items are not remade but stopped after the prescribed number is made.
Kidrobot are considered to be a rare collectible and consider their toys a new artistic movement. The toys go from 6 dollars to 20,000 according to the design and availability. There are already 13 Kidrobot toys that are on display at the Museum of Modern Art.
Kidrobot has changed the way I look at art because of its innovative ways to express them. All their shirts, toys and artwork are very modern and innovative. They were able to take toys, a category for children in the past, and made them a collectible for people of all ages. Not only did they reinvent the vinyl toy, they were able to change the way they were looked at. Instead of a toy being childish it is something considered something of art. This new look at figurines has made me look at art as a whole differently. I can no longer see clear distinctions between art and non-art because pretty much anything can become art. A personal expression of ones feelings or ideas is all art. Although not a graphic designer, as an artist and a person who appreciates art I am able to reinvent my style and grasp of art through the company Kidrobot.
